The “Swafford Reunion” was held on a warm summer day
at the Bridge Club on 7635 Auburn Blvd., Citrus
Heights, California not far from Sacramento.
Welcoming every one to the “Swafford Reunion” upon
entering the main door was Hostess, Marie
Rodgers-Lucas. A table display with a vase on it
contained Pink, Red and White flowers. On the table
was nicely printed out “Name Tags” for those in
attendance to wear.
A luncheon table was decorated with a blue & yellow
floral designed tablecloth. The sitting tables where
decorated in pastel-colored table covers. Laid on
each table section was a paper print-out on 8 x 10
paper of a Family Tree design which welcomed everyone
to the Swafford reunion. Each table consisted of
little gold cups filled with Almond Candies and Mints
which added a nice touch. Included was cut-outs of
various state flags and articles displayed pertaining
to each states history.
Many fellow genealogist alike displayed tables with
their research books, pedigrees, descendants and
photographs to share among one another. On the
bulletin board others had printed out large-detailed
family lineages showing their connection to the
Swafford lines.
There was great conversation held among many of the
Swafford relatives. Each individual had a chance to
stand up or sit-down and speak of his or her family
history. Some topics included Peter James Swafford,
Aaron “Big Aaron” Swafford as well as those Swaffords
which served in the Civil War. Others got up and
spoke of their travels to Sequatchie Valley,
Pikeville, Tennessee, Bledsoe County where the
Swaffords migrated and settled into heavily within the
area. We have learned that the Swaffords over the
years have moved and resided in such states as North
Carolina, Tennessee, Indiana, Missouri, Texas,
California and across the United States of America.
After each person had a chance to speak about their
Swafford Heritage we all shortly thereafter, gathered
to serve ourselves lunch which consisted of Chicken,
Lasagna, Macaroni Salad, Coleslaw w/Carrots, Chili
Beans, French Bread and Watermelon. The drinks
consisted of Ice-Tea and cold soda beverages.
For Dessert the table was set-up with Lemon Cake,
Apple Cake, Fruit Rolls along with hot coffee being
served to enjoy.

Tennant, California near Mt. Shasta.
